USS Arizona Memorial

After seeing the sunrise at Diamond Head, we went back to the hotel, showered, ate breakfast, packed and checked out. We drove to the airport and realized we still had a lot of time. Pearl Harbor isn't too far away and we hadn't really seen much of it.

We went to the USS Arizona Memorial and found that the timed tickets being given out to visit the memorial were past what time we had. They do have a nice visitor center and museum though so we took an audio tour of the museum and shoreline exhibits.

Here's a picture taken of the memorial from the shoreline of the visitor center. The memorial is actually a bridge that spans the hull of the sunken battleship which can be viewed through the windows.

As part of Rich's conference we attended a dinner reception earlier in the week at the USS Missouri. There weren't any tours being given, but there were retired Navy veterans on hand to answer questions as we walked around the battleship. It was very dark and as much as I tried, I just couldn't get any good pictures. This picture was also taken from the USS Arizona Memorial visitor center.
