JC has spent a couple of days trying to bring me into the 21st century. With a new laptop and digital camera I'm off and running. Well, not exactly running...maybe walking...slowly. But I'll get there.
On Friday I met up with my long-time friend, Jennie, and my step-sister, Carin, at the International Quilt Festival in Long Beach. I have never been to a large quilting event like this before. We spent the entire day there and were pretty pooped by the time we left. There were so many beautiful quilts on exhibit. We didn't know where to start and then found ourselves going in circles. I bought a little fabric and several patterns. I think I didn't do too much damage simply because there was so much to take in that I was on overload. I'll do better next time.
Sunday we (Dad, Gabby, JC, Marie and I) drove out to Corona for burrellenos at El Torero. What's a burrelleno, you ask? Heaven in a tortilla. It's a burrito with a chile relleno, meat and beans inside. They're huge so plan on sharing or taking half home. I've never seen or heard of them anywhere else. El Torero is a family-owned, hole in the wall kind of place. Definitely worth a stop.
No trip to California is complete without an earthquake. I was about 10 miles from the epicenter of the earthquake that hit Chino Hills on Tuesday. Pretty scary, but thankfully no major damage.
